Bookings:

Bookings are required at least 24 hours in advance of the proposed day of travel.   More than 24 hours is preferred.  
Bookings at short notice are not guaranteed.

At the time of booking please specify client details as follows:

  • Name, address and contact phone numbers
  • Day, date and time of appointment
  • NHI number
  • Clinic, service or name and address of private specialist
  • In order to provide the correct vehicle, we need to know if the client requires full wheelchair transport
  • Are they taking their own wheelchair? Is it manual or electric?
  • Does the client require wheelchair assistance once they reach the hospital?
  • Do they use a walking frame?

Additional Information:

  • Subject to seating availability, companions may accompany passengers.
  • The service is provided by volunteer drivers and support people. To operate, we rely on client donations
  • If you have a District Health Board appointment please make sure you bring your hospital papers with you. Our volunteers may require these to make sure you reach the correct destination.
  • We escort clients to and from clinic reception
  • Accommodating children. We have safety approved child car seats, or you can provide your own

Between 4.00pm and 5.00pm the evening before the day of travel, the driver will make a phone call to advise pick up time for the next day.  Punctuality is important so please be ready on time.  
Our objective is to get people to their destination safely and relaxed.

Other than by previous arrangement, rest home and private hospital clients are to be accompanied by family or a staff member.  Clients residing in facilities for people with dementia must be accompanied at all times.  There is  limited seating capacity in the vans, so only one person may  accompany the client.
